Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 5, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information khwrotethat.com (the “site,” “we,” or “us”) collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. This site is the author home of Ken Hastings and promotes his novel All the Houses Went Dark. Questions? Email ken@khwrotethat.com.

Information we collect

We keep data collection to a minimum:

  • Your email address — collected only when you choose to join our newsletter, The Kill List. (The Kill List is a mailing list, not a hit list — subscribing signs you up for book news, not to be killed.) Your email is stored and managed by our email provider, Kit.
  • Anonymous analytics — we use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand general site traffic. It is privacy-first: it sets no cookies and does not collect personal information or fingerprint you.
  • Server logs — like virtually all websites, our host automatically records standard technical information such as IP address and browser type, used to operate and secure the site.

We do not use cookies, advertising trackers, Google Analytics, or a Facebook pixel, and we do not sell or rent your information to anyone.

How we use your information

  • To send you news and updates about the book and its launch — only if you subscribed.
  • To understand overall site traffic and improve the site.
  • To operate, maintain, and secure the site.

Who we share it with

We share information only with the service providers that make the site work, and only so they can perform their service for us:

Links to retailers where you can buy the book, and to social media, lead to third-party sites governed by their own privacy policies.

Your choices and rights

  • Unsubscribe anytime — every newsletter email includes a one-click unsubscribe link.
  • Access, correct, or delete — you can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you (your email) by emailing ken@khwrotethat.com.

Colorado residents have specific rights under the Colorado Privacy Act, including the right to access, correct, and delete their personal data and to opt out of its sale or use for targeted advertising. We honor these requests from all visitors, wherever you live — and we don't sell personal data or use it for targeted advertising in the first place.

How long we keep it

We keep your email for as long as you're subscribed to The Kill List. If you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, we remove it.

Children

This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above always reflects the current version.
